Valentine Craft Ideas

The Perfect Craft for Valentine's Day


Valentine's Day is just the day for making home made gifts. With the help of the Valentine craft ideas that you will find here, you will be able to make greeting cards and gifts for your loved ones.

A Framed Picture

Materials:

  • Two pieces of construction paper of equal size
  • Plasticine
  • A Picture of your child
  • Scissors or a craft knife
  • Glue
  • A paint brush

Instructions:
  • Draw a heart in the center of a piece of construction paper.
  • Cut out the heart with scissors or a craft knife. (Do this part for your child.)
  • Stick the picture on the construction paper so that the center of the picture is in the center of the heart.
  • Stick the back of the picture onto the remaining construction paper.
  • Spread the plasticine onto the construction paper for decoration.
  • Using a paint brush, spread glue over the plasticine. When the glue dries it gives the plasticine a shiny look.
  • Stick a hook on the back of the construction paper for hanging.
And here you have a great picture that you can hang on the wall.

A Flower Pot


Materials:
  • Colored foam sheets
  • Green pipe cleaners/a skewer
  • Clay
  • An empty jar or any container that could be used to house flowers.
  • Colorful or decorated paper napkins
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • A paint brush

Instructions:

Preparation of flower

  • Draw 2 identical flowers on a colored foam sheet.
  • Draw 2 identical circles on a different colored foam sheet.
  • Cut out the flowers and the circles.
  • Stick the circles in the center of the flowers.
  • Apply glue to one of the flowers, place a pipe cleaner/a skewer onto the flower and stick the remaining flower on top.
  • Allow the flower to dry.
  • In this way, make the rest of the flowers.

Preparation of flower pot

  • Cut out the pictures from the paper napkins.
  • Place the cut out pieces of napkin on the outside of the jar.
  • Using a paint brush, spread glue over the napkins until the jar is completely covered with decorated napkins.
  • Allow to dry.

Assembly of Flower pot

  • Place a lump of clay at the bottom of the inside of the jar.
  • Insert the pipe cleaners/skewers into the clay.
And here you have a colorful and beautiful flower pot.

A Greeting Card

This greeting card is pretty and easy to prepare. Whoever receives it will be moved to tears.

Materials:

  • A4 size cardboard
  • A piece of paper
  • Crayons or markers
  • Scissors
  • Glue

Instructions:

  • Write your greeting on the cardboard and decorate it.
  • Draw or print out a picture suitable for Valentine's Day. (Make sure that the picture is smaller than the cardboard.)
  • Fold the cardboard in half.
  • With the cardboard closed, stick the edges of the picture onto the right side and then stretch the picture over onto to left side. The picture will be stretched out upon opening the cardboard, and will fold back upon closure.

Glowing Heart

Materials:

  • Self hardening clay
  • A wooden skewer
  • A piece of paper
  • A pencil
  • Scissors
  • A candle
  • Poster paint
  • A paint brush
  • Glitter glue

Instructions:

  • Draw a heart on a piece of paper or print one.
  • Cut out the heart.
  • Roll out a piece of clay to the height of the candle.
  • Place the cut out heart onto the rolled out clay.
  • Cut out the heart with a skewer.
  • With the help of a skewer, draw a circle in the center of the heart, according to the circumference of the candle and make a hole.
  • Place the candle into the hole.
  • Wait until the clay dries, and then paint it.
  • Decorate the heart with glitter glue.
It's preferable to use clay that dries naturally and doesn't require baking in the oven.
