Christmas Party Games

There are lots of Christmas party games and I'm sure you have participated in quite a few of them in the past. It's always fun to go back and reminisce with traditional games, and why not indeed? They always work!

That being said, there are always other ideas that you have not tried out yet. A combination of a new game along side familiar and loved ones can instill a new spirit into the party.

So, if you feel like being innovative this year with fresh and fun new games at the Christmas party, try the following Christmas party games:

Gift Collecting

  • Divide the kids into two teams.
  • The kids stand in two lines one next to the other on the starting line.
  • At a distance of about ten meters from the starting line, place small wrapped gifts.
  • At the sound of the whistle, two kids from each line form a wheelbarrow, (one walks on his/her hands and his/her partner assists by holding his/her legs.) and off they go to collect gifts from the end of the track.
  • The child who is walking on his/her hands must collect as many gifts as possible using his/her mouth only, and return as quickly as possible to their team.
  • As soon as one wheelbarrow arrives back at its team a second wheelbarrow sets off on its way, and so on and so forth.
  • The team who collects the most gifts within a given time is the winner.

Making a Sleigh out of Junk

  • Divide the kids into small teams (four to five kids in each group).
  • Each group receives a selection of junk (empty grocery packages, plastic bottles, used discs, etc.), and basic arts and crafts equipment: scissors, glue and crayons or markers.
  • The kids are required to build a sleigh within a given time.
  • The team who builds the most original sleigh within the given time is the winning team.

Task Balloons

  • Prepare in advance tasks written on small pieces of paper, and insert them folded up into balloons.
  • Inflate the balloons.
  • Tie the balloons on to strings, and hang them around the room.
  • At the sound of the whistle, each child must grab a balloon, burst it, and find the task note.
  • In turn, each child reads out his/her task and carries it out.

Words Words

  • The kids sit in a circle.
  • The host chooses a letter and the first child has to say a word that begins with the letter that he/she was given.
  • The next child has to say a word that begins with the last letter of the word that was said by the previous child, and so on and so forth.
  • All the words must be somehow connected to either the Christmas holiday or to the winter season.
  • For example:
The first child says "star"; the next child has to find a word that begins with the letter "R".
