Summer Craft Activities for Kids



One of the favorite activities for small and big kids alike is craft activities for kids. By using the most simple arts and crafts materials, you can occupy your kids for hours with varied arts and crafts activities.

So towards the summer vacation it's worth while stocking up on various arts and crafts materials and to integrate arts and crafts activities in your daily itinerary for the kids. You can find lots of ideas for activities here.

Materials:

  • A sheet of nylon 84 cm long and 40 cm wide.
  • A thick thread
  • A punch
  • Permanent markers


Instructions:

Fold the nylon sheet in half to form
a bag 42 cm long and 40 cm wide.
Draw a picture on both sides of the
bag.

Color the picture in using permanent
markers.
Form holes along both sides of the bag
using a punch.

Thread the thread through the holes on
each side and tie on each end so that it
is secure.

Create another four holes along the
width of the opening of the bag and
insert two threads to form handles.
And here you have a beautiful nylon
beach bag.

Materials:

  • 3 wooden skewers or wooden sticks
  • A piece of thick thread
  • A sheet of transparent nylon
  • Fishing thread
  • Permanent markers
  • Cellotape
  • Scissors
  • A stapler
  • A ruler

Instructions:

Place the wooden sticks on top of
each other in a cross, so that one
stick is placed in the center of
the other, one third of it is above
the meeting point and two thirds are
below.
Join the two sticks using thick thread.

Place the crossed sticks on the sheet
of nylon.

Mark the nylon sheet at each point
of the sticks.

Using a ruler, join the marks so that
a square is formed, and then
cut it out.

Draw a design or picture on the nylon
with a permanent marker (You can also
copy a picture from a kids' coloring
page) and then color it in.
Draw two 1 cm long parallel lines at
each corner of the square and cut
it out.

Place the crossed sticks on the back
of the square.

Thread the piece of thread through
the cuts that have been made, and
tie to the wooden sticks.

Cut out 4 pieces of tape, and stick them
on each end of the wooden sticks, so
that the wooden sticks won't move.

To make the tail, cut a piece of nylon
to a width of 3 cm. and a length of about
40 cm. Decorate it with permanent
markers and staple it to the bottom
corner of the kite.
In order to form a string for holding, tie
one end of the fishing thread to the third
stick, and roll the thread at the required
length around it. Tie the other end of the thread to the meeting point of the two
crossed wooden sticks.

Materials:

  • 3 pieces of A4 size yellow construction paper
  • A stapler
  • Markers or crayons
  • Scissors
  • A pencil

Instructions:

Draw a circle with a circumference of
about 10 cm. on the construction
paper.
Cut it out.

Place the child's hand on the
construction paper and draw around
it six to eight times.

The hands will be used to form the
rays of the sun.

Cut out the hands, and staple them
around the circle that you cut out
previously.

Color and decorate the sun.
