Elementary Advantage 2009

Published by: Encore software inc.

Grades: 1-5

Ages: 6-10

Computer requirements: windows xp /vista

Learning areas: Basic math, measurements, geometry, algebra, data and probability and even language. It has more than 46 lessons and 915 exercises.

Elementary Advantage 2009 is a great program. I have purchased a lot of educational games and some play more like a video game where you have to complete a certain level to move on.

On this game you can do whatever you want. You want to do division you go right to it, it is great.

I selected this program because of its range. It is good for grades 1-5, so I do not have to buy a new game each year.

It was also an all in one game; it has math and all the other subjects in one game, so I do not have to buy different games.

It was a little pricey compared to other games but it has so much I think it is worth the price.

It also includes state standards test prep which I also like. It also contains fun stuff like music, ring tones, screen saver and mobile games.

My son is starting 3rd grade and he worked on that grade during the summer. It really has helped him over the summer and I think that he is more than ready now for the third grade. I love this software.

"I SPY Spooky Mansion" Deluxe Version 2.0

With Halloween almost here, now’s the time to let your 6-10 year old youngsters enjoy a “spooky” educational software program that’s more fun than scary.

I Spy Spooky Mansion Deluxe v2.0 by TOPICS Entertainment (for Windows XP) lets your child wander the rooms of a mysterious house in search of clues to solve a secret riddle.

There are plenty of spooky images, picture riddles and matching games to keep youngsters excited and entertained. Once all the clues have been found, a secret message is revealed that enables your child to find a way out of the house.

While looking for clues, kids strengthen skills in reading, vocabulary, logic, reasoning and problem solving. In true I SPY fashion, this is an engaging brain-building game that can be played for several hours at a time or at one’s own pace. Kids can play it by themselves or with friends. The game also features three different mysteries, so once you solve one mystery and exit the house, you can come back for more!

Though intended to be more quirky than frightening, some rooms in the house, especially the attic, may be a bit too spooky for younger children. Also, some of the picture riddles and visual clues can be difficult for younger children to understand and solve. For those youngsters who are still learning how to read, fortunately there is an audio accompaniment that reads out all the words that are to be found, making it easier for your child to solve the puzzles on his/her own.

Overall, I SPY Spooky Mansion is a fun educational software program for kids ages 6-10 (Kindergarten through 5th grade). I SPY has other entertaining software for children in this same age range as well including I SPY Fantasy, I SPY Funhouse, I SPY Mystery, I SPY Treasure Hunt and I SPY School Days. This particular version of I SPY Spooky Mansion also comes with an I SPY Book and Mini CD-ROM to further add to your child’s enjoyment.

Computer Software for Kids for a Safe Internet Environment
The internet is great but at the same time it is an extremely dangerous place for children. As a parent you cannot allow your child to be exposed to the internet without protection. So, if you are looking for a real solution for protecting your child while he is surfing on the net read this article.
