Limbo

Who doesn't know the vibrant game of Limbo? I'm convinced that everyone knows it, but sometimes even the most familiar and favorite games are forgotten for a while when you are looking for games or activities for kids. So next time you are looking for fun sports activities for kids, there's no way you will forget this game.

• Two adults hold a pole, on either side.
• Play catchy music.
• In turn, each child has to pass underneath the pole.
• After each child has passed under the pole, the pole holders must lower it slightly.
• Continue in this way. The lower the pole gets, the harder it becomes to pass underneath it.

Jumpy springs

• Arrange the kids in two rows.
• Arrange 10 hoops in a line in front of each group.
• The first child in each group receives a ball and has to jump from hoop to hoop while holding the ball between his knees. (Small kids may run back holding the ball in their hands)
• When he finishes, he passes the ball to the next child in line, and proceeds to the end of the line.

If you don't have hoops you may mark a target area that the kids have to arrive at using a pole, a bucket or any other object.

Skiing competition

• Divide the kids into two groups.
• Choose 3 kids from each group. Each child inserts his right leg into a rope or piece of elastic that is joined to a wooden board. (It's possible to form 3 adjoining loops instead of using a wooden board.)
• The two groups have to arrive at the target area and back. This is not an easy undertaking as the three kids have to move their legs in co-ordination in order to advance.
• Upon their return, the next kids take their places.
• The first group to complete the course is the winner.

Parachute games

There are great parachute games for kids. Fun sports activities for kids would not be complete without parachute games.

Here are a few ideas:

Cat and mouse catch

• The kids hold the parachute so that it is stretched out tightly.
• One child crawls under the parachute.
• Another child stands on top of the parachute.
• The rest of the kids shake the parachute up and down, and the child who is on top of it has to catch the child who is underneath.

High ball

• The kids hold the parachute so that it is stretched out tightly.
• The organizer places rubber balls in the center of the parachute.
• The kids have to throw the balls high into the air without allowing them to fall off the parachute.

Colors game

• Stretch the parachute out on the floor.
• The organizer announces a color, from the colors that appear on the parachute, and begins to count to five.
• All the kids have to stand on the chosen color within the time limit.
• The next time the organizer challenges the kids and announces another color and counts only until 4.
• And so on...
