Winner of the national book award for young people literature on of ALA's top ten best books for young adults: Keeper of the Night by Kimberly Willis Holt.
Ages 11 and up.
There are many words to define Keeper of the Night. Those words are extraordinary and down-to-earth. It's about Isabel's mother died peacefully. At least that's what Isabel likes to think, since no one will talk about the truth.
But the truth has a way of revealing itself at night. Tata sleeps curled up on the floor right where her mother's body was found. Olivia wets her bed and wakes repeatedly from nightmares, and Frank starts carving his anger into the bedroom wall. It's up to Isabel to help her family get beyond the pain and loss - to be the keeper of the night.
I would recommend this book to anybody who enjoys books about mystery and finding your true self by opening up to the people around you. This book is for people who do and also don't like to read. This book is great for anybody who loves reading about thing that could happen; weather the reader likes fictional characters or not.
Keeper of the night is also puzzle solving story. It has a lot of mature language and description for you to see the picture better. One of my personal favorite is in the summer, birds would sing for their breakfast, and in the autumn leaves would turn crimson and fall. (33)
