Making a drawing from a number

by Hadar Levin
(Israel)

In my family we truly adore arts and crafts activities. We have lots of arts and crafts materials at home, and each time we do something different from the time before. Last week my daughter suggested a new activity that very quickly proved to be a big success, and it is this activity that I wish to share with you.

For this activity you will need:
drawing paper
pastel crayons

The course of the activity:
Each one of us took a large piece of drawing paper, and using a pastel crayon, wrote a number on it. Next we exchanged pages (Each person received a number that another person had written.), and we had to draw a picture out of the number that we had received.

The object of the activity was to create a picture that would not only include but assimilate the number within it.

This simple activity kept my children and I both occupied and extremely amused for quite a while, and the pictures turned out beautifully (as you can see for yourself in the picture).

What a wonderful idea!

I will definitely try it. I can tell from your description that you really had a great time together, and the picture is amazing!

I tried to recognize the number and I came up with a few options. I guess this means you did a good job since it's difficult to determine for sure what the number is?
