The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan

The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan

A thief? A hero? A god? What is Percy Jackson? Some people call him a normal 7th grade New Yorker, others, the son of Poseidon. In this fast-paced action-packed fiction book, Percy finds himself in deep danger after what started out as a normal field trip.

In The Lightning Thief, it all starts out on a field trip to the museum, when Percy's math teacher calls him in the hallway of the museum only to try to vaporize him, but Percy is handed a pen/sword that he slices her into dust with, and is questioned who the teacher even was until he is taken to the beach, attacked by a Minotaur, and escorted to Camp Half-blood, where he learns that Greek gods are real.

There he is asked if he would like to go on a quest with his best friend Grover, and a girl he befriended at camp named Annabeth. After visiting the oracle, he learns some surprising facts, and learns that his quest is to find Zeus's master bolt...which he has been blamed to have. Join him on his quest seeking the master bolt, full of traps, villains, and fun.

Written by Rick Riordan I would have to recommend this 375 paged book a rating of 5th-8th graders, for violence and crude humor. I think people should read this book because it is an action-packed, hilarious story full of chase sequences, action, and humor. This book will amuse and mystify you with its plotlines. It is the perfect book for those who like fantasy, and a little Greek culture and magic too.
