Purim Gift Baskets

How to prepare Purim gift baskets at home

Purim gift baskets or "Mishloach Manot" are an integral part of the Purim holiday. The giving of Purim gifts is a good deed according to the Jewish religion, but no less importantly is a lot of fun for kids.

On Purim it is customary to prepare Purim gifts at home and to distribute them along with a greeting card, among friends, neighbors and family members.

In school, kids exchange their Purim gifts that they have brought from home.

What do you fill Purim gift baskets with?
The Purim gift basket usually includes home made baked goods, along side Hamantash - the traditional Purim cookies.

For kids' Purim gifts, you may add candy, snacks or even a small party favor along side the Hamantash.

Preparing Purim gifts
In recent years many people prefer to purchase ready made Purim gifts instead of going to the trouble of baking the mini baked goods at home.

And I say...

If you don't feel like baking at home, don't bake! Purchase a selection of sweet baked goods from the local bakery, but...

Prepare the Purim gift yourself. It's less expensive, and much more fun...
