Summer Fun Activities in Places that Kids Love

So what are we going to do this year? Which summer fun activities will we find this time to satisfy the kids? Which places will we take them to?

Are these questions familiar to you? You're not the only one. In any social setting I hear the same questions from the parents, especially in the few days before the kids' summer vacation, which is quite understandable.

We all want to prepare an itinerary that will incorporate various summer fun activities, to ensure that the kids will be busy, calm and happy.

If we on the other hand do not prepare an itinerary, be sure that the kids will try to plan one for us. "Mom, take us to the zoo". "Dad, when are we going on a family vacation?" and all too familiar: "We've never been there", regardless of course of the numerous times that you have been on family outings of this kind or another.

Their requests remind us that in actual fact it is not necessary to invent the wheel each time. It's o.k. to visit the zoo or the beach yet again. Therefore, if we haven't managed to find a new place that offers summer fun activities, never mind, and if we did manage to find a new place then maybe they will want to go on a return visit next year.

The truth is we all do more or less the same things with our kids in the summer vacation. No matter where we live in the world, the activities are the exact same activities (If we judge by the ideas for summer activities sent to us by the visitors to this site) and they are no less enjoyable!

Fun at Amusement Parks

My family love amusement parks. We have been to several and always include going to one during our vacation time. We love the coasters, and all of the other rides .We love the shows and extra attractions that the parks provide.

Me and my Daughter Hit the Amusement Park every year, we love the rides, Entertainment, Food and Fireworks they have there. We always have a good time.

The Beach

We love going to the beach in the summer! My little boy makes sand castles and plays in the water while mom and dad enjoy a relaxing day too. It's a win win situation!

Fishing

Fishing on a state's fish for free day with a kid is great. Great day to get away from chores, work you name it. If the weathers great it's a no-brainer!

Discovery Place

I have 3 kids and live in North Carolina which can be VERY hot in the summer's months. We love to go to the Discovery Place in Charlotte and cool off and my kids get to learn and explore. They love it there!

June 24, 2008 Great summer activity! by: Chris My kids love the zoo, so we go there at least once a year, and we always have a great time. We spend there the whole day. We watch the animals and the kids enjoy playing in the play area they have there.

How to Get the Most Out of Your Day at the County Fair

For me summer revolves around one thing: county fairs. I know it is not your typical summer activity but for me it is where I live most of the summer and fall.

I am a farmer. I spend all winter and spring raising quality show sheep so that during the late summer and fall I can exhibit them at different fairs and show across the south. Now raising and showing sheep is probably a little too much for you busy moms and dads, but you want your kids to learn about animals and farm life. So what do you do?

Go to the Fair! County fairs have changed a lot over the past 20 years, but if you ask around you can probably find a good one in your area. Then research it to find days that have special events, such as: a pie eating contest, sheep shearing demo, or another fun old fashioned activities. If you want to avoid the crowds then don't go on the Saturdays, or late in the evening.

Finally, if you really want that "fair experience" stop by the livestock barns and talk to the people who own the animals. If they are not busy farmers are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. Also it is best to ask before you pet ANY animals in the barns. Some are not as friendly as they look!

St. Louis Science Museum

I always take my nieces to the St. Louis Science Center because there are so many fun activities for kids, and most importantly, it's conducive to learning.

It's much better than staying home watching TV. They particularly enjoy standing on the bridge and tracking the drivers' speeds by radar, and building huge buildings with the building blocks.

My one niece loves learning all kinds of new things, and particularly loves learning about electricity, and putting her hands on the electrical device that makes her hair stand on edge.

It really is a fun time for all. If you have plenty of kids that you are planning for, they also do overnight visits, which was one of my favorite memories when I was young and a Girl Scout. Just remember to bring your sleeping bags!
