Writing Birthday Greetings

Writing birthday greetings can be a task, but also a great opportunity to convey our best wishes to our loved ones. We have all received birthday cards over the years, most of which we don't remember, but some of them meant more to us than the others and remain engraved in our memory.

So what was so special about those birthday cards that we do remember? Here are examples of two kinds of birthday cards. Which one would you rather receive?

Example 1

Flower
To Mom,

Happy birthday
Lots of love and wealth

From________

Example 2

To my dear Mom,

I wish you a sweet and happy birthday.
May your face always glow
and may all your wishes come true.
May the birds chirp every morning in your honor
and the sun always shine for you.
I love you and I am so happy that you belong to me.

Your son/daughter____________

There's no doubt that the second greeting is far more meaningful. It is impossible to stay indifferent when you receive a greeting like this. So how can your child write a birthday greeting like this? It is not easy to write an original and meaningful greeting. This kind of writing requires skill, effort and will.

However, if your child is accustomed to putting the effort into writing birthday greetings, in time he will become a proficient writer. But until then, he will need your help in writing the greetings.

In order to make your job a little easier....

Tips for writing birthday greetings

  • Write your loved ones' birthday dates on the calendar so that you will not forget to wish them well on their birthday. The fact that someone remembered their birthday is no less meaningful than the birthday greeting card itself.
  • Make a list of all the recipient's good qualities and include them in the birthday greeting.
  • Write down ideas for greetings such as: may you always be happy and smile, may your days be full of light, love and happiness, may the sun light up your face, etc...
  • Use words that express your feelings.
  • Write a greeting that is unique, meant only for the recipient.
  • Write your true feelings about the recipient.
  • You can write your greeting in rhyme.
  • Encourage your child to make home made birthday cards instead of buying them ready made in the store.
  • Allow your child to write the greetings in handwriting so that the greetings will be more personal.
  • Use as many opportunities as you can for writing birthday greetings with your child.
